The GFNY Bento Gonçalves course offers a true immersion in the beauty and cultural richness of Serra Gaúcha, with stunning landscapes, historic landmarks, and a strong connection to the local vineyards and history.
The race will start in Bento Gonçalves, a city renowned for its wine production and hospitality. The route will pass by Igreja Pipa, one of the city's most iconic symbols, marking the beginning of the journey. Participants will then follow the Caminhos de Pedra, one of the region's most traditional routes, with its stone buildings and typical landscapes that tell the story of the Italian settlers.
The course also passes by an important historical landmark: the Ponte de Ferro, which was destroyed by the floods in May 2024, but was restored thanks to the unity of the local community. Crossing this bridge is not just a physical passage but a symbol of the resilience and strength of the people of Rio Grande do Sul.
After crossing the bridge, athletes will head toward Nova Roma do Sul, where they will have the chance to admire the landscapes of this charming region before entering the Casa Corba winery, a place that reflects the tradition and quality of the region’s wines.
The course will then take participants to Pinto Bandeira, a town known as the state capital of table peaches but today recognized as the land of sparkling wines. Pinto Bandeira is home to the first Denomination of Origin exclusive for sparkling wines in the New World, becoming one of the most important enotourism hubs in Rio Grande do Sul, offering competitors a unique visual and sensory experience.
The return to Bento Gonçalves is marked by the famous Barracão climb, challenging athletes to tackle the uphill stretch toward Alameda Fenavinho. The final meters of the course will be intense, with about 800 meters of climbing that will demand the best from each participant. A right turn will take the runners to Rua Frederico Grando and, finally, to Avenida Presidente Costa e Silva, where the finish line awaits, bringing this epic journey through Serra Gaúcha to a close.
The GFNY Bento Gonçalves is a challenging race rich in culture, history, and tradition, offering participants not just a race but a true journey into the heart of Serra Gaúcha, with its landscapes, vineyards, and the warm hospitality of the local people.
